Compliance standards for Mia Ledger & Ethiopian Digital Trade

Regulatory Framework: This policy is strictly governed by the Data Protection Proclamation and the Electronic Signature Proclamation No. 1072/2018 of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

1. Data Governance & Sovereignty

In accordance with Ethiopian data sovereignty requirements, all JournalEntries, TIN_Numbers, and VAT_RegNo data are stored and processed within encrypted local servers located in ADDIS ABABA. We maintain a zero-export policy for sensitive financial data unless authorized by the Ministry of Innovation and Technology.

2. Financial Record Retention

Under the Commercial Code of Ethiopia (2021), businesses are required to maintain financial records for a period of 10 years. MiaLedger facilitates this by retaining your PayrollTransactions and InventoryLogs in a read-only archival state after a license expires, ensuring you remain audit-ready.

3. Access Control & Surveillance

To prevent white-collar crime and unauthorized data manipulation, our SystemLogs capture granular audit trails including:

  • Permanent User UUID and login duration tracking.
  • Geographic IP verification (Enforcing access within authorized territory).
  • Immutable logs for Salary and Tax field modifications.

4. Data Subject Rights

Users and employees registered in the system have the "Right to Rectification" and "Right to Erasure" as long as it does not conflict with Federal Tax Authority (MoR) compliance requirements. Administrative overrides must be justified and recorded.
